STUDIO

My current studio practice emerges from a desire to eliminate superfluous narratives and investigate the physicality of the materials used. Deliberately experimenting with colour theory and incorporate gestural textures to create a visual experience for the viewer, providing space for contemplation. Works showcase my signature gradients, seamlessly blending highly pigmented, contrasting hues, along with bold, gestural marks, resulting in a subtle pulsating and vibrating visual effect.

Within the works, I incorporate repeated rounded motifs, such as arches and ovals, symbolising the concept of a portal that serves to transport viewers. Each mark is unique, a product of custom-made oversized brushes I've crafted. My inspiration draws from various art movements, including Abstract Expressionism, Op Art, Minimalism, Gestural, Generative, and Process Art, as well as Colour Theory.

This studio practice significantly informs my public art work, where both colour theory and the performative process of creation are equally vital to the success of each piece.
