KSR Artist Residency

The 8-week artist residency at KSR gallery in 2023 culminated in Rose’s first solo exhibition titled Hyper Vista. During this dedicated period, Rose had the opportunity to develop a significant body of work, delving into the realms of colour, movement, and energy. This time allowed for exploration of colour theory and the impact of repetitive mark-making techniques, with the prominent use of the arc motif.

Rose found herself captivated by the arc, a shape often associated with uplifting energy, commonly found in stained glass windows, bridges, entranceways, and reminiscent of rainbows and optimism. This symbol became a robust structural element in her compositions, infusing them with a sense of stability. To enhance this effect, Rose had custom canvases created that mirrored the arc brush shapes, introducing a unique dimension to the artworks.

Hyper Vista emerged as a deeply personal reflection and exploration of Rose’s artistic practice, focusing on her fascination with gestural abstraction and colour theory. This solo show represents a significant milestone in her artistic journey.
