ABOUT

Hello there!

My name is George Rose. I’m a Melbourne-based artist best known for my large-scale murals and vibrant use of colour. After an initial education in design, I completed my formal training at ANU School of Art before embarking on a full-time career as a muralist

My work is rooted in gestural mark-making, often recreated at scale intertwining with endemic botanicals and personal source material. Exploring the fragility of nature, I balance a combination of hard edges with bold undulating colours and texture. My work frequently showcase endangered indigenous flora and fauna, utilising the expansive size of each building as a canvas to transform the micro into a macro-scale.

Having a diverse clientele I’ve undertaken commissions for a range of clients, from museums such as Musée Pierre-Noël de Saint-Dié-des-Vosges, France and SRAAT Museum, Amsterdam to global social media platforms such as Instagram and TikTok. Beyond commissioned work, I actively participate in the mural festival circuit, receiving invitations to paint in various countries. My murals now adorns walls worldwide, from Australia and the US to Asia and Europe.

Recognised as one of Australia’s foremost female muralists, received accolades include multiple awards at the Resene Total Colour Awards in 2020 and 2023, as well as the ‘Best Mural’ title at the Street Art Australia Prize in 2019.
