Shine Festival
2019
Positioned on the Campbell Park local recreational center this mural project aims to spotlight the local LGBTQI community, drawing inspiration from botanicals significant in queer culture's recent history. The selection of flowers includes Calla Lilies, various Violets like the Lace Leaved Violet, Common Blue Violet, and Early Blue Violet, along with the iconic Green Carnation, Chrysanthemum, and the soothing Lavender. To pay homage to the locale, Orange Blossoms representing Florida and Warratahs symbolizing Australia are integrated into the design.
The colour palette emphasises vibrancy and visibility, with bright hues transitioning smoothly in gradients, creating an eye-catching presence within the park. Deep tones are strategically used to accentuate the botanical elements and provide visual contrast. The mural's composition is planned to wrap around the exterior, gradually fading into the interior of the court.
