Based on the history of Fishermans bend, this work is inspired by the evolving geography of the region. The work depicts the Yarra River's original course, winding its way through Yarra Pygmy Perch, a species of fish, endemic to south eastern Australia which were discovered in and named after the same river. Topographic maps of the Yarra river (prior to its redirection) and patterns created are derived from the Perch's tail along with representations of river stones and gritty earth have been used to create a multilayered work.
